Reading Intervention
Naturally Literate is proud to use the research based and scientifically proven Remediation Plus Program. The multisensory and systematic R+ curriculum was developed based on the longstanding research of Orton-Gillingham and phonological awareness. R+ curriculum integrates phonemic awareness training and linguistic gymnastics to give students a solid foundation for success. It focuses on reading, spelling, printing and sound skills (phonological awareness). It was developed for students who struggle in these areas of literacy.
It is an explicit, teacher-led, research-based, and multisensory program that retrains the brain. This retraining enables students with reading difficulties to overcome their barriers. It is grounded in the teaching of phonemes as a first step before introducing phonics. Within the space of 24, one-hour sessions a pre-speller shows a grade level of improvement and can usually achieve his/her own grade level of reading fluency within 3-6 months of training. Naturally Literate Clinic offers one-to-one instruction for one hour sessions on a daily, bi-weekly or weekly basis, depending on the academic needs of the individual student. Naturally Literate is accountable to R+ certification to uphold its high standards of education.
